Friends, I want to talk today about something we all need to work on:

Being More Optimistic

You know, I thought about being an optimist once, but I am sure I would not be good at it. Does that sound familiar?

We can all be optimistic in our lives, while still keeping our feet firmly planted on the ground. Being an optimist doesn’t mean leaving reality, it means seeing things differently. Just like the old saying goes – you can see the glass as half empty, or half full. Being an optimist is really all about appreciating and emphasizing what you have, not thinking about what you don’t have.
Here are 4 things you can think about when it comes to being more optimistic about life.

#1. Analyze Things
When something good happens in your life, do you stop to think about it for a moment? Be sure to take a moment to process the event, and give credit where credit is due..often times, that means giving ourselves credit as well. Think of any way you may have played a part in this success, either directly or indirectly.

#2. Downplay Negativity
When less than desirable things occur, think of all the other circumstances that played a part. Be sure to acknowledge if you truly made a mistake, and chalk it up as a learning experience, however you must also consider the other factors that took part in this, just like you do with successful events. You probably are not responsible for 100% of any success or failure, so once again, take blame where it is required, just like you took credit where it is due.

#3. Consider The Possibilities
Whether the event was positive or negative, you are certain to have gained from it. If the event was negative, think of all the possible lessons you learned and how you can apply them in your future. If it was positive, think of all the ways you will benefit from it. Again, look at the bright side in all scenarios.

#4. Challenge Your Thoughts
If you feel you may be slipping into negative thinking, be sure to challenge yourself to find the positive. It helps to practice by looking at any negative situation that occurs, and find at least one good thing that will come of it.

I hope this helps everyone become more positive. Having a more positive outlook on life will surely make your life better.
